Key Memory Signals

  • CAS – Column Address Strobe is a signal that triggers a column address

  • CAS Latency – the delay from when the CAS signal is triggered to when data is available on the memory bus, measured in clock cycles (lower is faster)

  • RAS – Row Address Strobe is a signal that triggers a row address

  • Command Rate – the delay from when a chip is enabled to when commands can be executed, measured in clock cycles (lower is faster)

  • Chip Select – activates or deactivates a chip or group of chips on the module
