CoreStore MP Bootrom?

Postby JesseD » Tue Jan 22, 2013 12:22 pm

I have a SR32C7MME miniPCIe based flash device. I'm having troubles trying to boot this device.
When I select this as a bootable device in the BIOS, I get no message indicating that a PCI option rom is executing. I have verified the device is detected via PCI configuration space.

I suspect for me to boot this I need a PCI bootrom to install into the BIOS (as a BIOS extension).

Dear,
Did you contact your system maker?
You need to verify it from system maker that your system is bootable from PCIe.
Thanks,
James

I work for the system board manufacturer. I can boot from another PCIe based SuperTalent drive (part number SA32A7PME) after installing a JMB bootrom for the SATA controller but those parts are no longer available. Upon further investigation, it appears the interface between the flash and PCIe lines is a Marvell flash controller whereas the old device above uses a SATA controller. Am I correct?

thanks,
Jesse

You old product SA32A7PME is based on JMicron 362controller which is PCIe x 1 to 2x of SATA II devices.
New product SRxxx is based on the latest technology from Marvell.
It is PCIe x 1 to NAND chips directly.
It is faster and laced with the latest PCIe technology.

James,

Sounds like the device I have isn't going to work.
Does SuperTalent offer storage based solutions with the following requirements:
- Uses the PCIe x1 signals from PCIeMinicard connector (not mSATA)
- Mini PCle(30mm x 50.95mm) size.
- Bootable (either via onboard option rom or ROM extension binary).

To close this out...
Installing the lastest firmware update to the device resolved my problem.
