Many thanks. I have checked the drive and no external switch. I need to find some torque tools.

Today I obtined some torque tools and removed the 4 torque screws from the cover. I located the two tiny holes in the PCB and shorted them to switch into factory mode. I used a wire to short, with no issues.

The new firmware has totally recovered the drive. I used the existing firmware 1819 for 3 years without issue, but recently notice the slow down in speed. Indeed, running the atto benchmark I could clearly see that the drive had degraded so much that 0.5 to 4kb read/write speeds were under 10mb/sec. Maximum read/write was 90mb/s on the 8192kb test. Even deleting the volume and creating a new partition was hanging disk manager.

The new firmware has recovered the drive to full speed again and I/O's have returned to what I deem normal (200mb/s and 240mb/s) :) It created a new volume easily without issue.

Thank you again. Comparable benchmarks to the new intel drive I just bought (SATA2 limited).

Hi James,
I have two ST SSD for F/W update 2142:
1. FTM28GX25H; P638047-MIBY-708A038
for this SSD I could not find the right selection code
==> It is MT29F64G08CFABA 128GB

2. STT_FTM28GX25H; P590388-TFBX-A229028
the selection code for this SSD I found out is: TH58NVG6D1DTG20 128GB (is it correct?)
It is correct.
both drives have actually F/W 2030

My System:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE 3.2GHz
OS: Win7 64bit ultimate
Board: Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P
North Bridge: AMD 790FX
South Bridge: AMD SB750

Thanks for your assistance
Regards
Achim
