FDZ8GC18M appears as removable?

Postby markosjal » Mon Apr 08, 2013 8:57 pm

I am not even sure if this is the right place for this drive as I have no idea what category it falls under in this forum

I connected this to a desktop adapter and was surprised to see it showd in linux as removable. If that is truly the case I do not think it will work unlessI can set it to not appear as removable.

I just went through a battle trying to put a faux ssd (cf card) in an Apple TV 1 (ATV) and it would never boot. Surprisingly because the CF Card showed as removable the ATV would not boot to it. The particular CF card could not have the removable bit flipped on it I found after trying.

So I removed thisFDZ8GC18M from the old Mac where I had installed it previously and never used to put it in the ATV. I however put it in the desktop machine running linux to format it and it showd as removable! This would leave me in the same boat as the CF card I tried earlier unless I can set it to FIXED.

How can I veryfy that it is in fact set to removeable or fixed?

Any help appeciated.

The black covering the 8GB is a glue goo where it was previously stuck down to the old iMac

Your Drive is FZD8GC18M.
It is IDE PATA drive with ZIF formfactor.
I don't think it is woking with CF.

You said "I connected this to a desktop adapter"
It should be connected directly to the PC.
