Whats up with 1916 ?

what system are you using with this SSD?

next time if it happens, try

The best way for the firmware update :
1. Back up the data.
2. Run Sanitary_Erase (data will be deleted after running ti).
3. Firmware update
4. OS installation.

The above 4 steps is the BEST way to get the drive clean and best performance.

When you skip the 2nd step, the performance degrade may happen.

I would like to report a very annoying bug I had with this firmware and the latest before (I did the update because I had a corrupted file system, my osx became unbootable :s).
I'm on a macbook pro (the lastest 13 inch), and I've got the 256Gb ssd since may or june 2009).

bug : the drive isn't available (recognized ? sorry for my bad english) on boot !! It has append two times (one time with each firmware), after I recover from sleep. The ssd was not responding resulting to a freezing osx (the environment was working but there was spin ball for ever). Hard shutdown, then unable to boot, the ssd was not available ! After about 15 minutes, many try, and some waiting, the ssd was finally available. I find it's very annoying because when it happens I don't know if my drive will be available again, I'm afraid he will never work again hence I won't be able to update the firmware to solve this problem !

I'm very happy to see that developers added garbage collection algorithm ! It's great, good job. I was waiting for it ;) Now I hope you'll soonly solve this malicious bug, thank you !

Hi Sir, I heard about it looks like some problem while Mac book work with other parties's SSD. Did you attemp to upgrade the IEF? It may work for you.

I'm still using V1711 and I know that you had to downgrade to 1571 before flashing to 1819.

Is it now possible to directly flash from 1711 to the new 1916??

Thanks!

UP

unfortunately, no

Windows 7 x64 bit Drive is connected to ICH9 in Raid flashed in IDE mode

Well Im on 1819 now and it seems to be working ok. What is Sanitary_Erase ? Is it recommended to go to 1916 if I seem to be getting good performance from 1819 ?

So the saga goes on. everything was fine working good for over a week. Today the computer crashed and didnt want to boot. SO I booted to a different drive and ran chkdsk so many errors. SO I did what the post said I ran Sanitary_Erase and flashed back to 1916, just cloned back and booted ok, ATTO shows good performance lets see what happens in 4 hours

Well I have an issue, and Im not sure if its affecting anything yet. But I ran chdsk and I get a whole bunch of errors:

The type of the file system is NTFS.

While the same CHKDSK run on the drive that I cloned from is clean, what does that mean ? I`m going to run it with /F to see if the errors get fixed and they wont happen again, but this is not good. While ATTO still running at the same speed. Let me remind that I`m still on 1916...

yozh, I hope you get the problem solved. Have you tried emailing support? The support in these forums seems terrible. :?

May I ask, where did you find the Sanitary_Erase program? Thanks.

You means EFI ? I applied all updates from apple, indeed it may be responsible for this bug. It still occurs...
