All firmware upgrade issues should go here

To answer my own question:
h.i.m wrote:So will the new V1916 firmware support "In-kernel automatic TRIM"?

This is part of a post from the evil 0c2 forum, which is doing ALL Linux stuff about SSDs.
antiram wrote: kernel-trim works with 2.6.33-rc4 and indilinx firmware 1916=1.5 and mount option -o discard

So firmware V1916 of supertalent (Indilinx) seems to support "In-kernel automatic TRIM".
This should be part of the release announcement!

Downloaded the 1916 iso, upgraded, and what do I see: Drive has now FW version 1819,whats this?
I have a FTM64GX25H Serial BEBX drive, is this drive version supposed to upgrade to 1819 only?

Hi

I upgraded my SSD to v1916. After the flashing i get a message, that the flash was succesfully.

Now i cant find the SSD under windows. My BIOS still find the SSD. When i try to start the update utility again, it repots an error message.

"SSD information read fail"
"Invalid SSD drive"

Anyone can help me and tell me what to do?

thx

Your bug looks to be pretty similar to mine.
Is your drive working now ?
I hope it's software and not hardware...

I'm using the new firmware since yesterday and i'm quite happy with the results.

My setup:
- single UltraDrive GX 64GB
- Intel ICH9 Controller, set to RAID-Mode (for my RAID0 of 2 HDDs)
- Intel Rapid Storage Drivers 9.5.4

Firmware 1819 (before):

Firmware 1916 (after):

I also ran wiper.exe after upgrading the firmware and ran a test after, but it didn't change the results. That was in RAID-Mode of the controller, though. Should I run wiper.exe in IDE-Mode to work or doesn't it matter?

I had an issue with 1916, after I applied the firmware it was very fast 220 but after 4 hours the drive crashed it would perform tests in lower 40s and would just drop out once in a while. I downgraded to 1571 and then back 1819 and now its in 220s again.

Whats up with 1916 ?

I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my 2 GX2 drives! The performace is horrid. These are the drives with the XXXX in the SN.

Last year, we accepted exchange for most of "xxxx" in S/N to there non "xxxx" item. If you are in germany, I heard about COS accepted the exchagne too, but don't know whether or not they still do it. You may want to contact them to confirm or get back to our Support@supertalent.com

i'm one of these users who flashed the new 1916 fw on UD GX but partnumber changed to gx2 like described before in this thread. Later i've seen that you noticed this issue and marked the new fw as for gx2 drive only.
It's running fine, so far, but can it be a problem in future and with further upgrades that now detect a gx2 with indilinx eco controller?
Is it possible or will it be possible to reflash with the upcoming 1916 release for gx or to go back to V1819? Other question: will it be necessary to flash back to correct partnumber?
Thanks

It won't cause problem in the future, just change the P/N. V1916/1819 won't be able to downgrade to V1571 or low version.

We only provide downgrade tool for V1711 to V1571, hence, DON"T do it.

Also can we get a non-gc version of 1916 for the GX drives?

yes, V1571 to V1916 will work, at my opinion, 1571-1819-1916 will be better.

all the official version we posted recently will be gc version.
