Failing upgrading firmware 2142 on UltraDrive GX2

Postby flashler » Sun Nov 04, 2012 2:17 pm

Hello,

I had some problems with my SSD and Windows 7 so I decited to update the SSD's firmware from 1916 to 2142. It's a UltraDrive GX2 (STT_FTM28G225H). I downloaded the "FW2142_Updater_iso.zip" from here http://www.supertalent.com/home/forum/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=10867, extracted it, burned it on CD, booted from it and I tried to update it, I pressed 1 for the drive and then it said something like "Bye, closed" if I'm remembering right and then I should reboot, I did it, but my SSD was not found in BIOS.
I searched a little bit on internet and I found that I have to flash the firmware with MP Tool. I clicked this jumper on the SSD (and it is recognized as "yatapdong barefoot..." and tried to flash it with MP Tool (yes in BIOS is set IDE compatible), but when I click (on MP Tool) the button "start" in the line with my SSD (1234...abc...etc.) under "Status" and "Firmware Revision" it's displayed "FAIL". What shall I do? I have read that if it is recognized as "yatapdong boot..." you can repair the SSD. Could you help me please?

Thank you very much and sorry for my bad English!

By double-clicking this line I get this message: Image

"The mptool could not find a firmware"

to run the MP TOOL, you must know the flash selection.
Please let me know of your SSD full serial number.
Please download the 1st file from the site below and read the pdf file carefully on how to use MP TOOL.

Hey James,

yes I ticked the box "Auto Detection" as it's said in this tutorial you posted (which I had used) because I didn't know about the flash selection.
My full serial number is P261411-UICX-392A062 so I think the needed part is UICX, but in the SerialN.xls I can't find UICX. Could you give me the right flash selection, please?

Thank you very very much!
